Form Styling and Customization
Customize your FormRobin forms by adjusting content, layout, and settings to match your needs.
What Can You Customize?
FormRobin focuses on content and functional customization rather than visual theming. You can customize:
- Form content - titles, descriptions, field labels
- Field types - choose from text, email, dropdowns, checkboxes, etc.
- Field order - arrange fields in any sequence
- Required fields - mark which fields are mandatory
- Conditional logic - show/hide fields based on responses
- Success messages - customize thank-you text or redirect
- Validation rules - email format, number ranges, text length
Form Appearance
FormRobin uses a clean, modern design that works well on all devices. The appearance is standardized to ensure:
- Responsive design - automatically adapts to mobile, tablet, and desktop
- Accessibility - follows web accessibility standards

Layout Customization
Rearranging Fields
- In form editor, drag fields up or down
- Drop field in desired position
- Fields reorder automatically
- Save changes when done
Grouping Related Fields
Use field types strategically:
- Section headers - Add text blocks to separate form sections
- Field proximity - Place related fields together (e.g., address fields)
- Logical flow - Order fields in natural progression
Conditional Logic Customization
Show or hide fields based on user responses:
- Select field to add condition to
- Click Add Condition
- Choose trigger field and value
- Set action: Show or Hide
- Save and test the logic
💡 Example: Show "Company Name" field only if user selects "Business" for account type.
Success Message Customization
Default Thank-You Message
- Open form Settings
- Go to After Submit tab
- Edit default success message text
- Add custom instructions or next steps
- Save changes
Custom Redirect URL
- Open form Settings ➜ After Submit
- Enter full URL to redirect page
- Must start with https://
- User redirects immediately after submission
Note: Custom redirects require Individual tier or higher.
Field Validation Customization
Customize how fields validate user input:
- Email fields - automatically validate email format
- Number fields - set min/max values
- Text fields - set min/max character length
- Phone fields - enforce phone number format
- Required toggle - make any field mandatory
Embedding Customization
When embedding forms on your website:
- iframe size - adjust width and height in embed code
- Responsive width - set width="100%" for fluid design
- Fixed height - increase height if form is cut off
Example iframe customization:
<iframe src="https://forms.formrobin.com/your-form" width="100%" height="800" frameborder="0"></iframe>
Styling Limitations
FormRobin does not currently support:
- Custom CSS styling
- Color scheme changes
- Custom fonts
- Logo uploads within forms
- Background images
- Custom button styling
Why? Standardized design ensures accessibility, mobile responsiveness, and consistent user experience.
Customization Workarounds
If you need branded forms:
- Embed on your site - surround iframe with your branding
- Custom redirect - send users to branded thank-you page
- Email branding - customize notification emails with your messaging
- Form title/description - add your brand name and messaging in text
Customization Best Practices
- Keep it simple - fewer fields increase completion rates
- Clear labels - use plain language everyone understands
- Logical order - arrange fields in natural progression
- Helpful placeholders - show examples in placeholder text
- Test thoroughly - submit test responses after customization
- Mobile-first - verify forms work well on phones
- Use conditionals sparingly - too many conditions confuse users
Testing Your Customizations
- Click Preview button in form editor
- Test form on desktop and mobile
- Submit test responses to verify behavior
- Check success message or redirect works
- Verify conditional logic functions correctly
- Review test submissions in Responses tab
